Tucson Horse Boarding
Gentleman’s Acres has the reputation of an excellent feeding program, customized for your horse. We also have excellent vets and farriers available, as well as horse training lessons to ensure your and your horse’s safety.
However, this is an open barn, and if you have a special trainer, vet, or farrier you prefer, we welcome them.
ABOUT
Gentleman’s Acres is a 6.2-acre family-owned and operated ranch. We’re conveniently located in central Tucson up against the Rillito Wash and Catalina Foothills with unparalleled trail riding for miles.
We have two lighted arenas, two round-pens, 70 stalls, tack rooms, an obstacle course, and a shaded ramada for community or rented events.
EVENTS
From community rides, clinics with renowned horse trainers, and community events like our Annual Stable Party, we are always having a fun, safe time together and with our horses. We’ve reduced some of our activities due to COVID-19 but continue to offer safe, socially-distanced events. Check our calendar for more!
Bethany Pappani Training
Gentleman’s Acres is partnering officially with Distinction Ranch by Bethany Pappani. Bethany does training, rehabilitation, and hoof care for horses of every background, and the results are truly mind-blowing! We have seen Bethany work with many clients, and she advocates for their health at every turn. She brings peace and healing, it is incredible to watch horses completely decompress after just five minutes of being in her hands.
From Farming to Tucson Horse Boarding + More: Our Story
Gentleman’s Acres was a working farm since the early 1940s, with rolling pastures and racehorses – all owned and trained by Col. Fontleroy, a World War I ace. After his death in 1965, the ranch was put up for auction and bought by Charles and Jean Bagley.
Over the years many horses were born, trained and boarded here. However, as the water level dropped it was necessary to build permanent stalls and runs (made out of telephone poles, in keeping with the Western style).
In 1987 the City of Tucson acquired 13 acres, now the Rio Vista Resource Park. In 2019, Sandy Gauthier-Young, native of Tucson, purchased the ranch from Jean Bagley. As a child and young teen, Sandy spent endless days on the ranch, her parents being close friends of the Bagleys. We look forward to welcoming you and your horse into our home and community.
